Minion Crochet Hat

Materials:

• Worsted Yarns

-Bright Yellow

-Blue

-Brown

-White

-Gray

• 2 ¾ “ Black Buttons
• Size H Crochet Hook
• Tapestry needle
  

Abbreviations:

• Magic Ring
• SC = Single Crochet
• HDC = Half Double Crochet
• DC = Double Crochet
• SL= Slip Stitch
• FLHDC= Front Loop Half Double Crochet
  

Size: 0-3 Months (Yellow Yarn)
Magic ring, Chain 2, 11 DC in magic ring, join to first DC, chain 2
Round 2: 2 DC in each around, join, chain 2 (22 DC)
Round 3: 2 DC in first, DC in next, repeat around, join  (33 DC)

Attach Black yarn here
Round 4: Chain 2, 2 DC in first, DC in next 3, repeat around 8 times, 1 DC, join (41 DC)

Go back to yellow yarn
Round 5-8: , Chain 2, DC in each around, join, chain 2 (41 DC)

Round 9: SC in each around, join, SL in the next 5

do not fasten off, begin on earflap as instructed below

Earflaps for 0-3 months (Yellow Yarn)

Earflap 1:
Row 1: Chain 1, HDC  in next 8, chain 1, turn (8 HDC)
Row 2: HDC decrease, HDC in next 4, HDC decrease, chain 1, turn
Row 3: HDC across (6 SC)
Row 4: HDC decrease, HDC in next 2, HDC decrease, chain 1, turn
Row 5: HDC across, chain 1, turn ( 4 HDC)
Row 6: HDC across in the next 2
fasten off, weave in ends
Place the second earflap to line up with the first earflap leaving a slightly more space in the front of the hat.

Earflap 2

Row 1: Chain 1, HDC  in next 8, chain 1, turn (8 HDC)
Row 2: HDC decrease, HDC in next 4, HDC decrease, chain 1, turn
Row 3: HDC across (6 SC)
Row 4: HDC decrease, HDC in next 2, HDC decrease, chain 1, turn
Row 5: HDC across, chain 1, turn ( 4 HDC)
Row 6: HDC across in the next 2
fasten off, weave in ends
Attach blue yarn anywhere in the back of the hat.

SC all around for the trim.

Eyes ( Make 2)

Brown Yarn

Round 1: Magic ring, Chain 1, 10 HDC, join, fasten off

White yarn

Round 1: Attach yarn, chain 1, 2 HDC in each stitch around, join, fasten off.

Gray yarn

Round 1= Attach yarn, Chain 1, 2 FLHDC in next, FLHDC in next, repeat around, join, fasten off leaving a long tail to sew.

Place eyes in the center of the black row and in front of hat, sew around with tapestry needle.

Sew few stitches for the mouth  in the front below eyes.

Attach few yarn strings to the top of the head to be Minion’s hair.
